Two layers, every mood

Double curtains

A sheer and a blockout on one double track, with either one in front, so you can choose light, privacy or dark.

From $1,048 for a 1.8m × 2.4m window, including track. Sample pricing

Sheer curtains drawn across sliding doors with blockout curtains stacked at each end

Double curtains give you two curtains on one track: a sheer for daytime and a blockout for night. Draw either one, or both.

Most people hang the sheer closest to the glass with the blockout in front. If you'd rather see the sheer from the room, we can hang it in front instead, with the blockout tucked behind. It's the most flexible way to dress a window, and the most popular choice for main bedrooms and living rooms that face the street.

Good for

  • Main bedrooms
  • Street-facing living rooms
  • Anyone who wants daytime privacy and night-time dark

Worth knowing

  • A double track sits a little further out from the wall, so allow a bit more clearance for nearby cupboards or doors

Questions about double curtains

Which layer should go in front?

Usually the sheer goes behind, against the glass, so the blockout draws across in front at night. Hanging the sheer in front gives a softer look from inside the room, with the blockout hidden behind it. You choose when you design your curtain.

Can I open the sheer and blockout separately?

Yes. Each layer runs on its own channel of the double track, so you can draw one, the other, or both.

Can double curtains be motorised?

Yes. Each layer gets its own motor, so you can open the blockout in the morning and leave the sheer drawn.
