How to install your curtains
If you can use a drill and a spirit level, you can do this. Fix the brackets, click in the track, hook on the curtains and let the folds settle. Plan on 30–60 minutes a window the first time, and quicker after that.
What's in the box
- Your curtains, labelled by room, with hooks or carriers ready to go
- Track cut to your width, with gliders fitted
- Wall or ceiling brackets and screws
- Wand or cord, if you chose one, or motor and remote (motorised)
- Printed instructions

Tools you'll need
- Drill, with a bit to suit your wall or ceiling
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Spirit level
- Pencil and tape measure
- Step ladder
- Wall plugs or anchors for brick or plasterboard
Before you drill
Check for hidden pipes and cables with a detector, especially around power points and above windows. Fix into timber studs or ceiling joists where you can. For plasterboard alone, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors.
Step by step
Mark the bracket positions
- Hold the track where it will go, using the height you measured to, and lightly mark each end.
- Draw a level line between the marks with your spirit level.
- Mark a bracket 50–100mm in from each end, then space the rest evenly, roughly every 600–800mm. Wide or double tracks need brackets closer together.
Fix the brackets
- Drill pilot holes on your marks. Use wall plugs or anchors where there's no timber behind.
- Screw each bracket on firmly, keeping them all lined up on your level line.
- Ceiling mounting? Screw the brackets straight up into the ceiling, into joists where possible.
Click the track into place
- Lift the track up to the brackets and clip it in, starting at one end.
- Tighten any locking screws on the brackets so the track can't slide.
- Run the gliders along the track to check they move freely end to end.
Hang the curtains
- Check the room label and which side is the leading (opening) edge.
- Starting at the leading edge, attach each hook or carrier to a glider, working along to the end.
- For double curtains, hang each layer on the channel you chose: usually the sheer on the back channel (closest to the window) and the blockout on the front, or the other way round if you ordered the sheer in front.
- Clip the wand onto the leading edge carrier, if you have one. Cord-drawn tracks come with the cord fitted: fix the cord tensioner to the wall or floor so the loop stays taut.
Dress and train the folds
- Open the curtains fully and arrange the folds evenly from top to bottom.
- Tie them loosely with soft fabric strips for two or three days. The folds will remember their shape.
- Creases from packing drop out within a week or two. A handheld steamer speeds this up (test on a hidden spot first).
Motorised curtains
Battery motor
- Fully charge the motor with the cable supplied before fitting.
- Install the track as above, then clip the motor onto the end of the track.
- Pair the remote by following the motor's instructions.
- Set the open and closed limits so the curtain stops where you want it.
Hardwired motor
Fit the track and curtains as above. The motor must then be connected to mains power by a licensed electrician. It's against the law to do this yourself.

Troubleshooting
The track won't clip into the brackets
Check the brackets are in a straight, level line. One bracket that's even a few millimetres out will stop the track seating. Loosen it, realign, and try again.
The curtain drags or catches when I open it
Look for a bracket screw that's not fully tightened, a glider that's come off its track, or something the hem is catching on. Make sure the curtain isn't twisted where it hooks on.
One curtain looks longer than the other
Check the track is level. Floors are often uneven, so measure from the track down at each side. If the track is level and the difference is more than about 10mm, call us.
The folds won't sit nicely
Give it time. Dress the folds and tie them loosely for a few days. S-fold curtains settle into even waves once the carriers are spaced evenly along the track.
The motor doesn't respond to the remote
Charge the battery fully, then re-pair the remote following the motor's instructions. If it still won't respond, call us.
